Foot Care

  • Always trim your toenails straight across, and do not cut them too short.
  • Don't cut out or dig at corners.
  • Don't trim, shave, or use over-the-counter medicines on corns or calluses.
  • Bathe your feet daily in lukewarm water, using a mild soap.
  • Always dry your feet thoroughly, especially between your toes.
  • Regular exercise helps the circulation in your feet.
  • Smoking, though, hinders the body’s circulation so try and give up.
  • The best exercise for your feet is walking.
  • Have your feet checked by a chiropodist, at least once a year.
  • If you have diabetes, these checks should be more frequent.
